The first annual Youth Pride Week of Whatcom County took place the first week of June, culminating with a Youth Pride Parade and Festival on June 9.
Whatcom Youth Pride activities throughout the week included Queer Youth Karaoke at the Make.Shift Art Space; a screening of “The Most Dangerous Year” at the Pickford Film Center; Poster-making and Parade Prep Party at the Ground Floor at First Congregational Church; a Community Pride Picnic for Whatcom County LGBTQ+ youth, families and community at Squalicum Creek Park; and the Youth Pride Parade and Festival at Bellingham High School.
Adults and community members adopted blocks as spectators while families and friends of LGBTQ+ identified youth marched with their children in the parade. After the parade, a kid-friendly festival was held in the Commons at Bellingham High School.
