Sehome High School athletics is the 2017-18 Washington Interscholastic Activities Association (WIAA) Scholastic Cup champion for 2A classification. Sehome was awarded 1,435 points, nearly 300 points more than Selah High School, who came in second. Bellingham High School also achieved an exceptional score, coming in third out of 62 high schools with 1,105 points.
The WIAA Scholastic Cup recognizes performance in the classroom as well as on the playing surface. Schools that finish at the top of their respective classifications in state athletic competition receive points, as do schools that finish at the top in team academic performance. Sportsmanship is also a factor, with substantial points deducted for ejections from contests. At the end of the year, the school with the most points in their classification is awarded the prestigious Scholastic Cup.
Congratulations, Sehome and Bellingham high schools!
