Bellingham Public Schools parent, Brad Swanson, was honored on May 3 by the Washington Association of School Administrators (WASA) with the Community Leadership Award. The award is designed to honor community members for their outstanding contributions toward education through collaboration with their school district.
Swanson was recognized for his ongoing commitment of Bellingham Public Schools through volunteering and leading three different bond and levy campaigns, all of which were approved with voter support. He was also acknowledged for his contribution to district success by engaging local businesses and inspiring them to be active partners.
“His positive attitude and great sense of humor often add levity to the tasks on hand and while he doesn’t shy away from the spotlight, he’s the first to recognize and acknowledge the work of others, even though it’s his work, time and enthusiasm that we wanted to recognize,” said Superintendent Greg Baker, who nominated Swanson. “In addition to being a busy, dedicated lawyer, business leader and father in our community, he is an active board member of the Bellingham Public Schools Foundation. We are grateful for his continued support of our students and schools. Congratulations, Brad!”
