Congressman Rick Larsen recently visited students at Bellingham High School. Larsen supports the Youth Access to American Jobs Act of 2015 which aims to engage students in STEM-related career fields.
The Youth Access to American Jobs Act focuses on improving access to STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) courses. During Rep. Larsen’s visit, students talked about projects they were working on and the skills they are learning.
“Mr. Clement’s class is a great example of how our district supports STEM education in our high schools,” said Jeff Tetrick, Director of Career and Technical Education.
Students and staff thanked Rep. Larsen for his support of CTE and the work he is doing to open doors for more vocational opportunities for students.
“Bellingham School District is making great strides in STEM and CTE – progress I saw in the hands-on, creative projects students showed me during my recent visit to Bellingham High School. These are exactly the type of programs needed to give students the skills and experiences necessary to find good-paying jobs in the Pacific Northwest,” said Rep. Larsen.
