Cordata smiles as she sits inside a fire truck.

The IAFF 106 Bellingham/Whatcom County Firefighters Association partnered with Cordata Elementary as a site for Operation Warm, a program that purchases winter coats for students.

Firefighters delivered coats to Cordata students on Dec. 14. Each student was assisted by a firefighter and had the opportunity to pick out their own coat. The firefighters then helped students write their names in their new coats. After coats were fitted and hoods were up, students got to tour fire trucks outside the school. Students explored the fire trucks and asked questions about fire safety and the career of a firefighter.
