For the first time, all three Bellingham comprehensive high schools earned a spot on US World New Report’s Best High Schools in America list. High schools are compared to the 27,000 public and private high schools throughout the nation based on school performance data and college preparatory programs.
“I believe we are going in the right direction and making more post-secondary options for our students,” said Squalicum principal Keith Schacht. “This is especially great news for Bellingham schools as we have never before had all three comprehensive high schools on the list.”
Of the 458 public and private high schools in Washington state, Bellingham High ranked 34, Sehome High ranked 26 and Squalicum ranked 24.
“This is great news for our district and school as we continue to improve our college prep options for our students,” said Schacht. “We have worked hard to make these opportunities for our students and they have truly stepped up to the challenge.”
