Community in Action

Veronica Douglas was recognized on May 8 with the 2018 Volunteer of the Year Award.

Veronica is a Sehome parent and has been volunteering in our schools for more than 10 years. She is described as having a smile that brightens any PTA or school event and she makes everyone feel welcome and included.

At Wade King, Veronica was the PTA IB liaison, PTA secretary and eventually the PTA president. At Fairhaven, she was the staff appreciation chair for five years. At Sehome she was the PTA secretary for three years, and two of those years she did not have a child at Sehome. Veronica is now the PTA co-president. She also serves on the HCL Parent Advisory Committee and has been an active member on the Parent Advisory Committee to the Superintendent (PACS).

The nomination for Veronica stated: “Veronica is someone who has a gift of presenting challenges as opportunities. No matter how challenging a problem may be, she has a way of bringing people together.”

Congratulations, Veronica!
