Alderwood students perform at Mount Baker Theatre

Alderwood Elementary School students performed at the Mount Baker Theatre on March 22 for the Rock the Salish Sea Tour.

The tour includes professional musicians and students singing songs about oceans, watersheds and climate change. The tour had seven stops including Bellingham, Victoria, Squamish, Surrey, Quadra Island, Saltspring Island and New Westminster.

“This performance was the result of a strong community partnership between Western Washington University, local donors, and the school, connecting our learning to the music for the performance,” said Principal Micah Smith.

Students in kindergarten to grade 2 sang two songs, Big Change Starts Small and Life Cycle Dance. Students in grades 3 to 5, sang two songs, Up your Watershed! and Salish Sea. All students sang Voices of Nature, Watershed Song and I am the Future.
